Where are the stars?

I see a small hand waving from the house by the road, I’m headed home

Is the little girl, my little girlfriend

The one that never forgets to wave at me, in her flowery yellow dress

Sitting by the front door, a cold dark night and I see low dark clouds

Tightly holding on to her Teddy bear, the one that never leaves her side

With teary eyes she’s hopefully looking in the distance, towards the horizon

For any figure resembling her mom, or sister

Left in the morning and non of them is back and she’s hungry and scared, the light switch so high

With tears in my eyes sit down beside her, she smiles at me and I smile back

With her eyes to the sky she asks me, where are the stars tonight friend

Bringing your mother and sister home, I reply

Rests her head on my lap, together we wait for her mother and sister to return.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

The Lord will be pleased with your gift to this little girl. Laying down your life doesn’t have to be dying. It can simply be taking the time out of your busy day to care for another.
