The Detour

It’s not my way home, taken a detour

Don’t wanna get home, why call it home when you still feel lonely

I think I’m running away, running away from myself

From everything that’s pulling me back, stopping me from flying

Elevating, always wanted to be a factor

Had dreams you know, now feeling like the cornerstone the builder rejected

Thought with education, will come the elevation

But here I’m drowning in my lonely life, think I will take a beer in the Sahara

It’s neon lights been calling me for years now, the ever smiling waitresses

Always fought the urge and won, tonight have a feeling might lose

But there’s always a first time, only God can judge me.
